About Pool Water Volume Calculator

Pool Water Volume Calculator is a free, independent tool for rectangle, round, ellipse, straight-sided oval, and kidney pools. It estimates volume in US gallons, liters, cubic meters, and imperial gallons, then scales a chlorine and salt estimate from that volume.

The calculator runs in your browser. Dimensions you type are not uploaded. Results are estimates. Measure the water, not the wall, and check anything you will treat or buy against the product label.

How the numbers are calculated

Area times average depth gives the volume. One foot is 0.3048 meters. One US gallon is 3.785411784 liters. The page does not use a rounded 7.48 gallons per cubic foot. Each shape, and the assumption it makes, is on the pool volume formulas page. The kidney factor 0.45 is an industry estimate, not a surveyed outline of your pool.
