How volume is calculated

Gallons and liters use surface area times average depth. Rectangle, round, ellipse, straight-sided oval, and kidney each have their own formula, listed on the formulas page and used by the calculator. The kidney outline uses a 0.45 factor and is an estimate. Dosing figures scale with that volume and are not a substitute for the product label.
